Baking is the perfect antidote to extreme boredom, rainy weather, and my perpetual sweet tooth. Last week I made Devil’s Food Cake Chocolate Cupcakes (thank you, Martha), which were absolutely delicious, and now gone, and so I’ve decided to move on to bigger and better (edible) projects. I’m trying to move away from the usual chocolate/vanilla-based cupcakes and cookies and brownies, to experiment with fruit and spice and bars and other delicious things.
First up, blueberry crumble cake. I’m just waiting for mom to get home with the groceries before starting. I’ll post photos and results tonight!
When I’m feeling super adventurous, I may try out macarons. I’ve actually never eaten them before, but they sound absolutely heavenly, and they look pretty too! Once I’ve got the technique down, I’m going to make these:

Vanilla Bean Blueberry Cupcakes with Heart Polka Dot Macarons.
I’ll make an event out of successfully completing these, but I don’t see this happening in the too-near future. Nevertheless, they’re staying on my to-bake list for the summer!
